Triple Threat: Music, Acting, and Style...Janelle Monae

Masculinity in the most feminine of ways...this is the only way I can describe Janelle Monae.  She's one of the few female artists out there that don't feel the need to leave little to the imagination to succeed.  Her image is most refreshing, as well as her music, which is filled with funky-pop sounds.

Threat #1: Music
In the video below it is evident that this girl can SING, and she has such energy!

So?  How was the video?   I love Janelle's tuxedo and oxfords...she rocks menswear like no one else I've ever seen.  And did you see that pompadour?!  Janelle looks dashing!  Killer style!

Threat #2:  Acting

Check out this video...the only way to understand Janelle's acting skills is if you see it with your own eyes.

Threat #3:  Style
Now let us move on to this chick's amazing wardrobe choices.  Here's a couple of photos:

I don't know about you, but I am in LOVE with this black and white look she's got going!  Its so new...no one in the media is doing this.  THAT is what a real artist should be like...someone talented, and with a new overall style.  Janelle proves that showing a lot of skin does not necessarily make you beautiful.  She looks just as gorgeous or maybe even better than other female artists devoted to overt sexuality and semi-nudity.

What do you think?  Do you like her covered up?  What about her music and acting chops?  I'd love to hear your opinion on this!  Leave your comments please!

Sky Ferreira: My Two Favorite Things...Music and Style

Recently I've become obsessed with "Obsession" singer Sky Ferreira.  Yes, her songs are catchy, but her music is not the only thing that has me obsessed...it is her sense of style too.  See this video for her song "Obsession", her outfits are AMAZING there!  Or listen it while you see the rest of the photos....

Sky Ferreira

She's an eclectic mix isn't she?  Sky is definitely not your average Lady Gaga wannabe...her style is very much her own.  What do you think?  Like her style?  Or not so much?  Leave your comments below please!

Feminine, Androynous and Masculine

At the moment I haven't been entirely sure what way to tend towards regarding my looks.  There are some days when my femininity takes over and I want to look like a doll. Not as often, I go to the polar opposite and dress like a boy.  And other days I like the androgynous look, I like to wear a mix of the two.  I thought that these photos would best explain how drastically I can change day to day.

Merethe Hopland: Transmitting Emotions

As soon as I saw these images of up and coming model Merethe Hopaland I knew I had to share them...she's so captivating and enchanting.  See for yourself:

And in these last images, I feel like she gives us a mix of enchantment, edginess and even a bit of quirkiness

I am in shock...Merethe has natural beauty and can appear angelic but evil as well.  In each image she is able to transmit emotions to the viewer, her eyes and expressions are superb.  As I stare into each photograph, I truly believe what she is feeling be it happiness, anger, freedom or playfulness.  I was looking for a model like this, one that doesn't stare blankly into the camera with the ever too typical slightly open mouth.  This girl is going places, she has the supermodel looks and the talent of transmitting emotions

Embracing the Wonders of Winter

I've decided to fully embrace the winter.  No more complaining, and I will make the best of it...because the cold can be a good thing.  Instead of whining about the freezing temperatures, I should be thankful that I'm alive and able to see the changes that Earth goes through.  I got the inspiration from this magical editorial from New York Times Style for Winter 2010.....

These winter wonderland photos reminded me of the perfect beauty of this season.  They're princess-like and seem so eternally graceful...I think one dressing in pale colors to match the winter is the best way to honor our beautiful planet for giving us such awe-inducing seasons.

Dark Weather, Dark Mood

The weather in my city isn't the best today.  I'm the kind of person that doesn't enjoy gloomy weather that much...it tends to make me turn into a couch potato, it makes me want to spend the day watching movie marathons and drinking cup after cup of hot chocolate.  Knowing that this behavior is not the best for my body or my mood, I decided to cheer myself up by going on the hunt for inspiration...inspiration that will make me like fall and winter a little more.  I found these:

So yeah, the first couple of images made me believe that winter isn't that bad....that constant cold gives me an excuse to wear dark coats and boots.  Don't get me wrong, winter is one of the best seasons, fashion-wise. It gives you the freedom to morph into a dark vampiresque being that blends with the gloominess of the season. Still, I'm more of the happy bubbly type....so by the end of composing this post, I couldn't resist and I posted the last two images.  They showcase the dark gloom of winter, but have more color and less clothing...that reminds me of spring, my favorite season.  I shall try to make the best of winter, but with the hope of spring in mind.  What your favorite season?  Any comments on that?  Leave them below please!
